Shutterstock changed the face of the stock industry when they launched in 2003. Jon Oringer saw a gap in the market where no one was servicing the one man bands, and Shutterstock was born.
As Shutterstock grew, the need to create a solution for companies to use Shutterstock became more apparent, and in 2012 Shutterstock launched their Enterprise Solution.
This solution addressed the issues companies had with working with Shutterstock at the time. It provides greater access, correct licencing, a workflow that suited, account management including free research services and proper indemnification and protection.
With this change Shutterstock also shifted from an amateur solution to a professional content provider, hiring a huge team of curators to initially cull and then control the quality and integrity of content we now accept. Today Shutterstock has over 80 million royalty free images and adds 50,000 new images every day to its creative catalogue.
Shutterstock is continuing to develop and grow and through a combination of development and acquisition now offers music, footage, assignment quality content (Offset), creative images and editorial images.
Shutterstock purchased Rex Features in early 2015 and launched Shutterstock Editorial in February 2016. Within editorial Shutterstock have partnered with some of the world’s leading content providers and we are able to offer a complete News, Sports, Entertainment and Archive solutions.
